2024 School tax bills have been mailed to taxpayers who do not hold escrow accounts. For those who hold escrows, bills were sent electronically to the banks for payment. You will receive a paid receipt from the school when your taxes have been paid by the escrow companies.  If you have not received your bill by Monday, Sept. 9, 2024, please call the number above for a copy.  

Please note: The District is no longer offering in person tax collection. This decision was made by the Administration and Board of Education in 2019 for the safety and security of our students and staff.
Please mail school tax payments to the address provided on your bill.
PLEASE REVIEW YOUR CHECK CAREFULLY!

Include your telephone number on your check should we need to contact you about your payment. Incorrectly written payments without a phone number will be returned by mail to the taxpayer and remain in unpaid status subject to late fees as outlined below.

Taxes received or postmarked Sept. 1 – Sept. 30, 2024 are collected without penalty.
Taxes received or postmarked Oct. 1 – Oct. 31, 2024 must have a penalty of 2% added.

Taxes received or postmarked after Oct. 31, 2024 shall be returned to the taxpayer. Please contact the Rensselaer County Bureau of Finance for payment information. (518) 270-2750.

All unpaid tax bills shall be returned to the County Treasurer for collection with additional penalty of 7%.
**Real Property Tax Law (RPTL) 925 states : *USPM (when mailing your payment)-
• If the postmark does not appear on such wrapper or the postmark is illegible such payment shall be deemed to have been made on the date of delivery to such collection officer.
• A postage meter mark is NOT a postmark made by the US Post Office and, therefore, is not within provisions of RPTL 925. Payments cannot be deemed timely because of a postage meter postmark on an envelope.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q. Can I pay my school taxes in installments, or make a partial payment?
A. No, the full amount must be submitted, or payment will be returned.

Q. May I pay for my taxes with a credit card?
A. No, the school does not accept credit cards at this time. Taxes may be paid by check or money order only.

Q. How do I apply for the STAR exemption, or what if my STAR exemption hasn’t been applied?
A. Contact your assessor through your local town hall, and they can assist you.

Q. Why is my Tax Bill higher than anticipated?
A. Check the Star Exemption or your Assessment Value.

All questions regarding address changes, the STAR program, assessments, reapportionments, boundaries, transfer of ownership, etc., should be referred to the Assessor in the town where the property is located. Their contact information is listed below:
