Hoosic Valley Central School District is pleased to announce Joe Barton as the district’s next Supervisor of Transportation. Joe will work alongside longtime Supervisor Wayne Akin through October before officially taking the reins in November.
Joe brings 20 years of experience in the transportation industry, including nearly 16 years with Stewart’s Shops, where he served as both a commercial truck driver and, most recently, Transportation Manager. In that role, he supervised a large driver team, developed schedules, recruited and on boarded employees, implemented technology to improve driver safety and performance, maintained regulatory compliance, and worked closely with staff and vendors. His experience in scheduling, equipment operations, maintenance, documentation, and safety provides a strong foundation for his new role at Hoosic Valley.
Joe is also deeply connected to the Hoosic Valley community. He and his wife, Jeni, are lifelong residents and Hoosic Valley graduates, and their two children, Lily and Jack, currently attend the district.
“I’m honored to be stepping into this role that Mr. Akin has done so well for many years,” said Barton. “I am looking forward to working with our transportation staff to continue providing a safe environment for them and the students of our community.”
Please join us in welcoming Joe Barton to his new role and in thanking Wayne Akin for his many years of dedicated service to Hoosic Valley students, families, and staff.
