Hoosic Valley Central School District is pleased to welcome Andrew Etman as the district’s new School Resource Officer (SRO).
Etman began his law enforcement career with the Sheriff’s Office in 2018 as a Correctional Officer before becoming a Deputy Sheriff. Throughout his career, he has served in a variety of roles, including as a Field Training Officer, certified Law Enforcement Instructor, and fill-in School Resource Officer in several local schools. He is also a member of the Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Unit.
Etman brings not only law enforcement experience to Hoosic Valley, but also a strong belief in the importance of relationships, mentorship, and community. Growing up in Watervliet, he credits the coaches and mentors in his own life with helping him develop accountability, perseverance, and a strong sense of responsibility.
“An SRO is more than a law enforcement presence,” Etman said. “An SRO should be a trusted adult, mentor, educator, and positive role model who develops meaningful relationships with students while maintaining a safe and secure school environment.”
Etman also has a personal connection to the Hoosic Valley community, with family members who live within the district. He looks forward to building positive relationships with students, staff, families, and community members and being a consistent, approachable presence in the schools.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the Hoosic Valley community and excited about the opportunity to make a positive and lasting impact on the students and staff I will have the privilege of working with,” Etman said.
Thank You, Officer Manny and Ozzy
As we welcome Officer Etman, we also want to extend our sincere thanks to outgoing School Resource Officer Eric Manny for his years of service to Hoosic Valley. Officer Manny has been a valued and trusted member of our school community, and we are grateful for the relationships he has built and the support he has provided to our students and staff.
We also thank Ozzy, his therapy dog and beloved member of the Hoosic Valley family, for all the comfort, smiles, and companionship he brought to our schools.
Please join us in welcoming Andrew Etman to Hoosic Valley and thanking Officer Manny and Ozzy for their years of service to our community!
