Hoosic Valley CSD School Board appoints new superintendent
The Hoosic Valley Central School District Board of Education unanimously appointed Michelle Gabree-Huba to be its superintendent of schools, effective July 1.
Gabree-Huba has more than 20 years of experience as an educational leader and teacher. She has served as the assistant superintendent for instruction and technology at Clinton Central School District, located in Oneida County, for the past three years.
“I am honored to step into the role of Superintendent of the Hoosic Valley Central School District at a time when public education is both deeply challenged and full of possibility. This community has already built something meaningful together. I am committed to understanding and building on what is strong, while thoughtfully redefining what our students need and ensuring we continue to evolve to meet the demands of a changing future. What draws me most to Hoosic Valley is the strength of its foundation: a community that cares about its schools, educators who show up with commitment and skill, and students whose potential deserves to be met with opportunity at every turn. I am committed to building on that foundation to improve student outcomes and expand opportunities for all students, while communicating with clarity, transparency, and purpose,” said Gabree-Huba.
Gabree-Huba started her career as a teacher and instructional coach in Mohonasen CSD before moving to Shenendehowa CSD to become an academic administrator. She also served as an elementary principal in the Greater Johnstown School District.
She has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education/science from the College of St. Rose, a master’s degree in curriculum development and instructional technology from the University at Albany, and a certificate of advanced study from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. She also completed the New York State Superintendent Development Program.
“We are excited to welcome Michelle Gabree-Huba to Hoosic Valley Central School District,” said Board President Karen Carlson. “During the search process, she stood out for her commitment to student achievement, fiscal responsibility, and community engagement. We look forward to working with her”
The Hoosic Valley CSD Board of Education offered Gabree-Huba the position following an extensive search and interview process, which began in November 2025 with assistance from Questar III BOCES.
“The Board of Education would like to thank our community for its input and interest throughout our superintendent search process. Your feedback helped to guide our work,” said Carlson.
