Dear Hoosic Valley Families,
I am extremely pleased to announce the appointment of two new members to the Hoosic Valley Administrative Team. At last night’s Board meeting Julie Umar was appointed to be our next Director of Special Education and Ailene Cavaliere was chosen to be our next Elementary Principal.
Ms. Umar was most recently part of the Schalmont Central School District and is thrilled to bring her passion for supporting Special Education students to Hoosic Valley as well as her wealth of experience in the field. She enjoys the ability to support the families of students with disabilities as well as the Special Education Teachers and support staff that ensure an appropriate educational experience. She looks forward to meeting with students, families and staff to enhance the partnerships that help our students succeed.
Ms. Cavaliere was most recently part of the Schenectady City School District and has a strong background in elementary education and instructional technology. She is known for her extra effort to build strong relationships with families and staff members that have delivered positive results for students. She is excited to bring her student centered approach and positivity to make a lasting impact on our students, staff and families.
The applicant pool for both of these positions was deep and full of eager candidates with varying levels of experience. Committees of faculty, staff, administrators, community members, board members and students interviewed candidates and chose several for final interviews. Reference checks confirmed the belief that we have the best two candidates for these important positions.
Ms. Umar has assumed her new role today and Ms. Cavaliere will start on Thursday September 18. Ms. Cavaliere will be at this evenings Elementary School Open House and further opportunities will be planned to meet and greet both of these new administrators.
Please be sure to join us in welcoming them to Hoosic Valley, the most supportive school district in the area!
Sincerely,
Jim Buhrmaster
Superintendent
