We’re delighted to feature Megan McManus, who finds joy in building connections with her students across multiple grade levels at Hoosic Valley. Recently, Megan experienced a touching moment when a former student greeted her warmly and took time to catch up before their practice began. “It made me appreciate the close-knit community at Hoosic Valley,” Megan shared.
One of the most rewarding aspects of Megan’s role is when students eagerly ask, “When are you taking me for reading?” or remind her, “You forgot me!” “It makes me really happy that they enjoy learning with me,” she said, reflecting on the positive impact of their enthusiasm.
Megan values her work with students as they grow and progress each year. “One of my favorite things is working with multiple grade levels. You really get to build connections with students as they grow and celebrate their progress,” she explained.
She is grateful to be part of a collaborative and supportive reading team, including Tanya Scott, Carlee Molesky, Terrie Goodspeed, and Keira Hare, who share ideas and knowledge to enhance student success.
Megan’s message to others is simple but powerful: “Keep an open mind and remember that every day is a new day, even when things are challenging.”
