We are excited to feature Kim Howard, a dedicated Teaching Assistant at Hoosic Valley. Kim focuses on helping middle school students adjust to the added responsibilities and homework that come with transitioning to high school. “Honestly, my achievements as a TA revolve around helping students adjust to these new challenges,” she shared.
Some of Kim’s favorite moments in her role come when she works individually with students. “Seeing them smile with confidence when they understand what’s being taught is incredibly rewarding,” Kim explained. These moments of growth and understanding fuel her dedication to her work.
Kim acknowledges that times have changed and teaching has become increasingly challenging. “Patience and positivity help, but it’s not always easy,” she said. She emphasizes the importance of understanding, discipline, and consistency as key elements of helping students succeed.
Kim also commends the incredible team of teachers she works with, particularly the 7th grade team, for their dedication and care for the students. “They are dedicated and care a lot for the students,” she said, appreciating their collaborative efforts.
Her message is one of support and resilience: “We need to support each other in our schools and make it a positive environment for teachers and students!”
