We are excited to feature Meghan Luskin, a dedicated speech therapist at Hoosic Valley who finds immense joy in celebrating her students’ progress. “It’s very rewarding to celebrate my students’ small wins in speech therapy. It can take time to get it just right, so when they do, it’s a huge boost in their confidence and motivation,” Meghan shared. Each milestone is a meaningful achievement for her students, and she takes pride in being a part of their success.
One particularly meaningful moment for Meghan was when she collaborated with Mr. Gleason to feature some of her students reading the school promise on the morning announcements. “It was a fun way to show off their new skills,” she said, proud to give her students an opportunity to showcase their growth.
Meghan’s approach to teaching is centered on finding what drives her students and using that to help them succeed. “If you can find what drives a student and latch on to that, you’re golden,” she explained.
In 2022, Meghan transitioned back to education after 13 years of working with adults in healthcare. Though she was excited to make a positive impact in her own community, the change came with some uncertainty. However, her colleagues Larissa Fremont, Christina Michela, and Andrea Badurak welcomed her with open arms and made her feel like part of the team. “I feel fortunate to have their support,” Meghan said.
Her message is one of growth and encouragement: “Stepping out of your comfort zone leads to personal growth. It’s important to recognize small successes and to build each other up.”
