Dear Hoosic Valley Community,
We are thrilled with the start of a great school year! Our outstanding staff have been working hard to assess our students and keep them all moving towards success. Hopefully you have been reading about the many dedicated professionals we have through our spotlights on the webpage and school facebook page. All of our athletic teams are filled with students and make us proud on the field every day. So many extracurricular clubs have started meeting and are planning lots of great events. The number of students getting lunch and breakfast at school has drastically increased with our expended menu this year.
The current capital project has resulted in some great new and renovated spaces for our students and almost all from this first phase are complete. Our High School Wellness Center looks great and is utilized every day, during and after school. The elementary music rooms are complete and will take our music program to the next level. The auditorium has a new sound and lighting system that nears completion and our HVAC upgrades will wrap up this month. The 6th grade addition and new playground look amazing and will be in use in the next few weeks.
All of the different items mentioned are in place to help our students succeed in school and life. We are always planning and adapting to our changing world to make sure that our teachers have the tools they need and our students have a path towards success. This year we have initiated a Roadmap to Academic Success, so we can share with everyone our goals for our school system and students and how we plan to reach them. Attached to this posting is our District Roadmap to Academic Success. It details our goals and priorities then lays out the tools we will use and steps we will take to reach these goals.
In addition to our District Roadmap we have also developed Roadmaps for the Elementary and High School and are expanding this to departments and classes. As our most important partner in student success we are also developing a Roadmap for parents to help you help your children be as successful as they can be. We will notify you as these different Roadmaps become available and will host them all on our Webpage on the District Drop down menu.
Goals are important but it is just as important for our students to know how to make a plan that will help you reach your goals. We are creating these Roadmaps to be transparent about this year’s goals and priorities and what steps we are going to take as a district to help our students be even more successful. More importantly though, we want to model the process for our students. The goal and corresponding plan help us all grow. We can learn from the process and develop better goals and plans as we evolve as a district and as individuals. This cycle of continuous improvement benefits us all.
