We are proud to feature Jill Anderson, a dedicated member of the Hoosic Valley community who has served in multiple roles. Jill’s roots run deep, as her parents, all six of her siblings, her children, and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews have all attended or currently attend Hoosic Valley. Her commitment to the district reflects her lifelong connection and passion for the community.
Jill has worked as a bus driver, attendance clerk, teaching assistant, Special Education Secretary, and, for the past eight years, as the Guidance Secretary. She enjoys interacting with both staff and students daily, finding special fulfillment in supporting seniors as they navigate their post-graduation plans. “I particularly enjoy working with the seniors as they are navigating the process of what to do after graduation,” she shared.
One of the most meaningful experiences for Jill is witnessing graduation ceremonies, where she sees students embark on the next chapter of their lives. This past May, she was deeply honored when a former student invited her to his nursing school pinning ceremony at SUNY Plattsburgh, a testament to the lasting impact she has on her students.
Jill’s experience working in Special Education has also shaped her understanding of the challenges faced by students, parents, and teachers. “Everyone is a piece of the puzzle and valuable to the success of the process,” she emphasized.
Jill’s children, Alyse and Mac, inspired her to work at Hoosic Valley, allowing her to be present during their school years and be a part of their lives in ways she cherishes. This decision also gave her flexibility in managing childcare while staying close to her family.
Her message to students is simple but important: “It is rare to know exactly what you want to do after high school. As long as you keep moving forward, you will figure it out.”
