We are excited to feature Lyndzie Rosko, a committed and hardworking Teaching Assistant at Hoosic Valley. Lyndzie’s journey into education began in October 2021 when she started as an aide at the high school. Inspired by a fellow Teaching Assistant, she decided to pursue her own certification, spending the summer completing the necessary classes and training. By August 2023, Lyndzie had earned her Level III Teaching Assistant certification after working for a year in a second-grade classroom. Now, she is entering her third year as a Teaching Assistant at Hoosic Valley.
Reflecting on a particularly meaningful moment, Lyndzie recalls her second year assisting in the second grade. “I’ve learned that many children face challenges that can make their school days hard to get through,” she shared. Working closely with her team of teachers, Lyndzie has been instrumental in brainstorming ways to accommodate students’ specific needs and help them reach their academic goals. The teamwork and collaboration within the classroom have been key to their success.
This experience has shaped Lyndzie’s approach to her role, teaching her the importance of patience and understanding. “When people say ‘it takes a village,’ it absolutely does! Having a group of teachers to work closely with and maintaining constant communication really helps the flow of the classroom,” she emphasized.
Lyndzie credits three colleagues—Jamie Rose, Sara Fox, and Katie Cahrenger—for playing significant roles in her journey, providing support and contributing to her success in the classroom.
Her message to others is clear: “It’s really important to get to know each student and find out what their specific needs are. Don’t be afraid to ask them what their interests are!” She believes that building connections and relationships with students creates a positive impact on their lives. “It’s particularly rewarding when students I’ve worked with run up to me with smiling faces to give me a big hug. That’s how I know I’ve played an important role in their lives as their Teaching Assistant,” Lyndzie added
