We are thrilled to introduce Mackenzie Heidcamp, who has recently joined Hoosic Valley as our new Social Studies teacher. Mackenzie is already making a positive impact as she prepares for an exciting year ahead!
Mackenzie brings with her a wealth of experience and a passion for making a difference in her students’ lives. She shared a particularly meaningful moment from last year, when she worked with a student who was repeating her class and struggling with attendance and engagement. Mackenzie made it a priority to check in with this student regularly, building a strong rapport and working closely with her parents. Over time, this student’s dedication grew, and she began staying after school to work on her assignments. The result? She went from failing to having the highest grade in the class and became the student who was always eager to participate. Mackenzie reflects, “She passed the class with flying colors, and it was incredibly rewarding to witness her transformation.”
This experience has profoundly influenced Mackenzie’s approach to teaching. She believes that students who may seem difficult to reach are never lost causes. With the right support and effort, they can achieve remarkable success. She also credits the Social Studies Department Head from her previous role for providing invaluable support during challenging times, helping her to achieve success in her teaching.
Mackenzie’s story is a powerful reminder that with the right support, encouragement, and effort, every student has the potential to succeed. She adds, “Whether you resonate with the student, the other students in the class, or the role I played, there are always people who will work with you to achieve your goals and who want to see you succeed!”
We are excited to see the positive impact Mackenzie will have on our students at Hoosic Valley
