Dear Hoosic Valley Families,
One of my favorite things about being a part of the public school system in New York State is the cyclical nature of a school year. Every September our students and staff get a fresh start to set new goals and learn from the previous year. New goals are set, and new relationships are formed. The optimism of that fresh start invigorates our campus. The school year is then filled with milestones where we can enjoy traditional events and evaluate the progress of our schools and individual students. The arrival of Spring signals the fast-approaching end of the current school year when it is a time to gauge our progress, celebrate our students and begin preparing for the next year.
We are starting to enjoy this school year’s celebrations but are also evaluating our progress and planning for next year’s fresh start. Over the next few days members of the community will receive our annual Budget Newsletter, which will detail our 2024-25 Budget proposal and the many factors that influenced its development. Our Board of Education and school personnel have worked extra hard to craft a budget that is fiscally responsible and academically sound for our students. Program and staffing changes are being made to create sustainable programs that will help our students grow and contribute to their community. We encourage you to come out and vote on Tuesday May 21 from noon until 9:00 p.m. in the Elementary School Gym.
We are excited at the progress being made on our new website that will debut this summer and encourage families to look for summer learning resources for their children. We know that learning doesn’t stop for our students at 2:30 each day and it certainly doesn’t take a break over the summer. Our partnerships with family members and the community are essential in helping our students set high goals for themselves that, together, we can help them achieve.
Please enjoy the last months of the 2023-24 school year and join us for the many events that bring joy to all who attend.
Take care!
