The Science Research Class cordially invites you to attend the twenty fourth Annual “Bucky” Thompson Science Research Symposium on Wednesday May 15, 2024, at 6:30 pm in the LGIA.
The keynote speaker for the evening will be Julia Moore Vogel, a Hoosic Valley alumnus and a Senior Program Director at Scripps Research. The research student speakers will be Katrine LeStage, Katharine Marbot, and Sophia Squires.
This is a program where students get to conduct scientific research on a topic that interests them. Once students have a specific topic they want to work on, they conduct research to answer that question with the help of a scientific mentor. Along the way they gain experience giving presentations, conducting bibliographic searches, and analyzing scientific articles. Typically, students enter the program in 10th grade. Students who continue in the program are eligible to earn college credit through the University at Albany in 11th and 12th grade. The Symposium is where they present their three years of research.
You’re invited here!
We hope to see you all there. Refreshments will be served.
